World Rivers Day
#NotInOurRivers
On World Rivers Day, we join forces to show what does not belong in our rivers. With #NotInOurRivers, companies, employees, celebrities, influencers and individuals take a stand against plastic pollution.
One image.
One clear message.
For #NotInOurRivers, participants take photos of themselves with plastic or other waste covering half of their face. Together, we send a clear message: plastic waste has no place in our rivers.
Why #NotInOurRivers
Plastic and other waste pollute rivers, endanger animals and plants, and can make their way through waterways to the sea.
We launched #NotInOurRivers in 2023. Since then, we have joined forces with companies, celebrities and individuals every year on World Rivers Day to raise awareness of pollution in our rivers.
How to take part
1. Send us your photo
Let us know by September 14 if you are taking part and send us your photos, each showing half of your face covered by (plastic) waste.
2. Campaign materials
We edit your photos, add the hashtag and send you the finished images along with suggested captions before World Rivers Day.
3. Publish together
On September 27 at 10.00am, publish your post on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and/or TikTok. Connect with the other participants under #NotInOurRivers to increase our collective visibility.
With your permission, we will also use the images in our own communications.
