About everwave

everwave is a German impact company from Aachen that actively fights against waste and plastic in rivers and waterways. Through our product, Plastic Credits, we show that marine and water protection can be part of a functioning business model and offer companies a transparent and effective solution to get involved.

We go far beyond classic cleanups. everwave combines proprietary technology, transparency and local responsibility with a visible, long-term environmental impact:

  • Proprietary technology & full transparency
Thanks to our proprietary software solution, every Plastic Credit can be tracked individually – from collection to certificate. Double counting is eliminated and our partners receive a transparent waste collection certificate with details of the quantity, location, date and order number.
  • Visible impact through our own waste collection boats
We collect waste where it is already on the move: in rivers and waterways. Our own boats and local teams on site ensure real control and a credible impact. We also demonstrate this time and again through our transparent communication on social media, our website and various events.
  • Certification & standard safety
Our project in Cambodia is already certified in accordance with the internationally recognized Ocean Bound Plastic Standard. We also work to the same high standards in non-certified regions and therefore meet even the strictest ESG requirements.
  • Local responsibility & partnerships
We manage our own local projects and work with long-standing partners such as Recycling Albania. We are not a marketplace, we do not buy waste and we work transparently and traceably. In addition, we are closely networked with authorities, e.g. through a multi-year agreement with the Ministry of Environment in Cambodia.
  • Building local infrastructure
We invest in zero-waste centers, logistics and teams – creating long-term change.

In this way, we create real solutions for real environmental problems – visible, verifiable and with a long-term impact on the ground.

More about our Impact

Since our foundation in 2018, we have already removed several million kilograms of waste from bodies of water and the number is growing every day. Every kilogram collected brings us closer to our goal – a cleaner and more liveable environment for everyone. On our impact page you can track our waste collection figures transparently.

We focus on maximum transparency and digital traceability. Every single step – from collection to the issue of Plastic Credits – is documented and checked:

  • Multi-stage collection: The collected waste is recorded and weighed at several steps along the way. These quantities are independently confirmed by official weighing certificates.
  • Proprietary software solution: All data, including photos of the collected and weighed waste, is stored in our proprietary software. Each Plastic Credit is given a unique serial number and is therefore fully traceable – from collection point to sale. Double counting is excluded.
  • Waste collection certificate: Our partners receive an official certificate that transparently shows the quantity collected, the location, the date and the order number.

Our aim is to recycle the collected waste in the best possible way. The basis for this is our certification in accordance with the Ocean Bound Plastic Standard, which ensures that no collected material can be returned to nature.

  • Recycling on site: Wherever possible, we return materials directly to the cycle.
  • Co-processing: We use waste that cannot be recycled as a substitute fuel in industry – e.g. in cement plants. There, the waste replaces fossil fuels, thereby generating energy and reducing the amount of waste at the same time.

We are a transparent company and also report on challenges:
In Albania, around two thirds of the waste collected consists of recyclable material (mainly PET). This is pressed in our zero-waste center and transported to recycling centers in Tirana. The remaining third of non-recyclable waste currently has to be disposed of in a secure local landfill. This is not the standard we are aiming for. It is important to note that waste that ends up in landfill is not sold as plastic credit.
We are working hard to develop sustainable solutions here too and to expand the local infrastructure together with partners so that even more materials can be recycled in the future.

We collect everything that doesn’t belong in the water! Of course, plastic is particularly harmful to the environment, but we also collect many other things: from car tires to refrigerators to textiles – the composition varies greatly depending on the region. We’re not just interested in plastic, but in everything that harms nature. And don’t worry, before we process the material further, we separate and sort it into different categories so that we can process it accordingly.

No – our approach creates measurable and verifiable impact. With our waste collection boats and local teams, we collect plastic directly from rivers and waters before it reaches the sea. Every Plastic Credit is transparently traceable and documented by an official waste collection certificate.

Of course, our Plastic Credits do not replace zero-waste programs or the responsibility of companies to avoid waste. But we do make an important contribution: we clean up existing pollution, create local jobs and ensure that waste is recycled or reused in the best possible way.

More about our projects

We are active worldwide in various long-term cleanup missions. Our current projects include missions in Cambodia, Thailand and Albania. Learn more here more about our projects.

We analyze regions with high environmental pollution, especially rivers with high levels of plastic pollution that carry waste into the oceans. We work with local partners, governments and companies to develop long-term solutions. New project locations generate high initial costs – which is why we rely on long-term partnerships.

We use a range of innovative technologies to remove waste from the water and promote recycling at the same time. These include our specially developed waste collection boats, floating barriers, mobile sorting containers and our zero-waste centers. These technologies not only help us to efficiently remove huge amounts of waste, but also to sort valuable materials on site and return them to the recycling cycle.

Yes, companies can support specific projects by donating Plastic Credits to finance our cleanup missions. Private individuals can support us through donations or indirectly through purchasing products from our partners products.

More about cooperations

Companies can support us through Plastic Credits or strategic partnerships. Together we develop tailor-made solutions to reduce pollution and make sustainable commitment visible. Contact us for more information on how your company can become part of the wave.

A partnership with everwave offers many advantages:

  • Measurable impact: Every euro invested corresponds to real waste removed from bodies of water – transparently tracked using our own software and documented in official waste collection certificates.
  • Strong brand perception: Companies visibly position themselves as pioneers in environmental protection and credibly integrate sustainability into their ESG strategy, communication and campaigns.
  • High storytelling factor: images and video footage of collection campaigns, boats and teams on site bring sustainability to life – ideal for social media, employer branding and your own customer communication.
  • Added business value: Some of our partners have even been able to achieve a demonstrable increase in sales by integrating Plastic Credits into their products and services – because real environmental impact also convinces customers.

We offer various cooperation options: from joint social media campaigns, to linking plastic credits – i.e. the collection of waste – to products or services, to strategic partnerships. Each partnership is individually tailored to the needs of the company and together we develop tailor-made solutions to reduce pollution and make your commitment visible. Contact us for more information on how your company can become part of the wave.

Our partners are companies that want to take real responsibility and reduce their environmental footprint. We offer tailor-made solutions for both large companies subject to CSRD obligations and small and medium-sized enterprises. If your company wants to reduce its ecological footprint, is committed to the environment/water/waste reduction and wants to make a real impact, you can become part of the wave!

Our impact is measurable and transparent. Every mission is documented, the quantities of waste collected are precisely recorded and prepared in detailed reports for our partners. This means you can always see when and where your material was collected – with waste collection certificates for maximum transparency.

MORE About Plastic Credits

Plastic Credits are transparent proof of genuine environmental protection: each credit represents 1 kilogram of plastic that has been removed from rivers or waters in accordance with the international Ocean Bound Plastic Standard and recycled in the best possible way.
For companies, this means they can demonstrate their contribution to sustainability in a visible, measurable and credible way – with a clear figure, certificate and storytelling potential. Plastic Credits are therefore not abstract compensation, but a direct, verifiable impact. Here you can find more information about Plastic Credits.

Plastic Credits work very simply. One credit is generated for every kilogram of waste we remove from the water – that is, 1 credit equals 1 kg of waste. Companies purchase these credits to support their sustainability goals. We provide transparent reports that document exactly when and where the waste was collected. This allows your company to link Plastic Credits directly to products or services and integrate them into its sustainability strategy. In short: with every Plastic Credit you buy, you help us to make the environment a little cleaner!

We guarantee full transparency: every plastic credit is clearly recorded using our own software solution and can be traced from the point of collection to the point of certificate issue.

  • External confirmation: The quantities of material collected are verified by independent weighing certificates.
  • Individual traceability: Each credit is given a unique serial number – double counting is impossible.
  • Transparent documentation: Our partners receive waste collection certificates with all relevant details (quantity, location, time period, collection method).

This is how we ensure that every credit stands for real, verified and documented waste – traceable and credible.

The Ocean Bound Plastic Standard and the associated certification specifically promote projects that remove plastic waste from the environment. They create a scientifically sound and transparently verifiable basis to ensure that collected waste actually originates from endangered zones.

For everwave this means:

  • We can transparently prove how much plastic we have collected and where it comes from.
  • This provides our partners with a reliable basis for ESG reporting and a clear distinction from unverifiable models.
  • The standard guarantees that our impact is created precisely where pollution of the oceans is a particular threat.

Our project location in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is currently certified to the OBP standard. We are planning certification for Albania in the second half of 2025. In all projects, whether already officially certified or not, we work to the same high standards and already meet the requirements of the OBP standard across the board.
