#NotInOurRivers

Rivers are the lifelines of our planet, but they are suffocating under the weight of plastic waste. The pollution of our rivers has serious consequences – both for the environment and for us humans. Plastic and other waste endanger the flora and fauna that live in and around our rivers. Animals become entangled in waste or ingest microplastics, which destroys entire ecosystems in the long term. But humans are not left untouched either: Polluted water affects our health, puts a strain on food production and exacerbates social inequalities in regions that are heavily dependent on rivers.

With #NotInOurRivers we would like to World Rivers Day to draw attention to the alarming pollution of our rivers. In cooperation with Celebrities, influencers and companies we are setting an example for the protection of our waters. Together we want to raise awareness, mobilize more people and actively work to remove plastic and other waste from our rivers. Join the movement and help us keep our rivers clean – for a sustainable future.

Goal:

  • On World Rivers Day 2023, we have launched a never-ending campaign. Every year, we want to motivate celebrities, influencers and corporate faces to raise awareness of river pollution.
  • Send a clear message that you stand up for clean waters and become part of a movement!

How it works:

  • On 22.09.2025 at 10:00 a.m., post a picture of your face, half of it covered in (plastic) waste, on LinkedIn and/or Instagram and explain why clean rivers are important to you.
  • Go to the profiles of the other participating partners and comment under their posts for more reach.

Procedure:

  • Please let us know by 31.08.2025 if you would like to participate and send your pictures to: staude@everwave.de.
  • We will edit the images for you in black and white, crop them and add the hashtag. You will receive your edited image including the finished post content by 12.09.2025.
  • We will use the pictures of all participants for our own articles and on our website.

Arne Friedrich, Björn Both, Felix Neureuther and many others already take part.
